I met a woman through a friend one evening because I was told she needed some jewelry. She came in with some extensive slashes to her left forearm and a sad story. The easy solution would have been to make a large cuff or fashion some arm bands in fabric for her to wear to cover the injuries; I wondered if one should ever really cover a suicide attempt or should the body instead be celebrated for the fact that it still exists? With simple piercing techniques I crafted a set of earrings, a pendant, ring, and cuff to suit her daily needs. The designs reflect her sensibilities and interests and will serve as a constant reminder as to who she is and why she is worth living for.
(Normally I love critiques, but I will likely ignore them here. This is a commission and the work made for her isn't questionable.)
